Harlem Dreams
Brand New CD by
Akiko Tsuruga, Hammond Organist
Here is the premiere CD from Akiko Tsuruga. Hammond organist, Akiko Tsuruga, has been playing professionally for many years, especially in New York City and Japan. Her style swings and is reminiscent of the organists of yesteryear. She has studied organ extensively with Dr. Lonnie Smith, and she brings a soulfulness to her sound that is a great listening experience. This new CD is wonderful, and we look forward to many more recordings from this great Hammond organist!
Here is Akiko Tsuruga's Bio:
Akiko Tsuruga (Hammond Organ, Piano)
New York City based Hammond Organ player and pianist, Akiko Tsuruga, has established herself as an 'in demand' player since arriving from her home town of Osaka, Japan in 2001. Among others, Akiko has performed with Frank Wess, Paul West, George Benson, Russell Malone, Randy Johnston, and has been a steady member of legendary drummer/singer Grady Tate's Band. Akiko cites Mr. Tate as a major influence as is evidenced by her hard swinging and melodious playing. Akiko began organ lessons at age three and started playing professionally throughout Japan after graduating from Osaka College Of Music. Akiko performs regularly with her own bands at Cleopatra's Needle and Showman's in Harlem. Her long-awaited debut CD featuring Grady Tate and Frank Wess was released on the M&I label in May 19, 2004. She also had a CD release tour in Japan with Grady Tate and Satoshi Inoue this summer (2004).
Look Out!!! She's awesome!!!
